I can feel the barometric pressure…
If you’re up to date on what’s happening in FNQ the past few days, you’ll know that Mother Nature has unleashed her summer fury on us. She has already dumped so many inches of rain onto the far north, it’s begun to flood again.
And for the past week or so I have felt ‘pressure’ throughout my entire body. I can feel the pressure within the atmosphere of the earth. I didn’t realise this was happening at first and I hadn’t put the two together before. I just thought I was having one of MD flare ups but I did a little bit of reading about the science behind barometric pressure and how it can affect our body.
A little scientific fact - barometric pressure is the force or weight of the air surrounding us and it often drops before bad weather. When the air pressure is low it pushes against our bodies, which allows our tissues to expand. And when our tissues expand it can put pressure on our joints causing physical symptoms like pain.
This pressure can influence our health and lead to mood changes, fatigue, headaches, sinus issues, pain, even gastrointestinal issues like bloating and discomfort. I am experiencing all of these symptoms at the moment.
I found this super interesting and felt called to share it with you. So don’t be a hard head (like me) and try to push through. Listen to your body, be super gentle and rest.
